S her Shah Suri was born in India. His childhood name was Farid Khan and he was a Pathan. Farid Khan at the young age alone killed a lion, so that his name Sher Shah and Suri were taken from his hometown “Sur”.  He used to work for Babur as a soldier before. This is known as the second Taj Mahal of India due to its texture and beauty. It is made on octagonal plan. According to the historian Kanugo, Sher Shah’s mausoleum seems to be Muslim from inside and outside Hinduism. To see this historic mausoleum, the state’s tourists and foreign tourists are coming here for years around Bihar.

This tomb was completed in between 1540 and 1545. It remains 122 feet high in the middle of the artificial lake by the red sandstone. This mausoleum is built on a square plate of octagonal plan. This tomb is a domed kiosk, with stones on the edge of stone on each corner, and curved mooring on all sides of Plinth, which is connected to a wide stone from the mainland. This tomb is surrounded by a circumference of 22 meters, which has colorful and carved tiles. The garden and flowers are all around this lake, which increases its beauty several times.

You can easily reach here by rail, road and air. It is located at Rauja Road in Sasaram at a distance of 3 Kms from National Highway 19. It is 2 km from “Sasaram Railway Station”, you can reach here from the station and with the help of auto.The nearest airport is 140 k.m away at “Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport” in Babatpur in Varanasi. You can reach the Sher Shah Suri Tomb with its own four-wheel cart and small bus. In front of the tomb there is parking for the carriage. Tickets for the tomb are given in the parking area only.
